Summer Reset Day Retreat

I am delighted to collaborate with Down to Earth in Tufnell Park to run this Summer mini retreat!
This retreat provides an afternoon for rest, reflection and vitality, attuning to the energy of summer so that we can savour not survive the holiday season.
The afternoon begins with a dynamic yoga practice focused on the shoulders, chest and upper body, creating space through the pathways of the Heart and Small Intestine meridians. Drawing on both ancient yogic wisdom and modern neuroscience, Jessica will weave together breathwork, movement and practical tools to support nervous system regulation, vitality and wellbeing.
The second half of the retreat draws inspiration from Zen traditions, where mindfulness is cultivated through direct experience of the present moment and a deep connection with the changing seasons.
In Zen practice, the seasons are not something happening around us but something we are invited to participate in. Through movement, stillness and contemplation, this afternoon offers a chance to slow down and experience the fullness of summer before it slips by.
Through Zen-inspired meditation, seasonal poetry, yin yoga and deep relaxation, we will explore summer not simply as a time of year, but as a felt experience.
The afternoon will include:
• An introduction to the Fire element and its connection to summer
• Shoulder and chest-focused yoga flow
• Breathwork and nervous system regulation practices
• Zen-inspired meditation and seasonal contemplation
• Summer poetry and reflection
• Yin yoga for the Heart and Small Intestine meridian channels
• Deep relaxation
Jessica is an approachable and experienced teacher with over 17 years of teaching experience. Her teaching integrates yoga, functional anatomy, mindfulness, neuroscience and contemplative practice, helping students cultivate greater ease, resilience and connection in everyday life.

2:00–2:20 Introduction to the Fire element, summer and seasonal awareness
2:20–3:20 Heart and Small Intestine flow: a shoulder and chest-focused yoga practice
3:20–3:25 Comfort break
3:25–3:45 Zen meditation and summer poetry
3:45–4:50 Yin yoga for the Heart and Small Intestine meridians, deep relaxation and seasonal reflection
4:50–5:00 Closing meditation
